With South Korean soccer remaining in 23rd place in the newly announced FIFA rankings, Asian Football Confederation (AFC) countries are changing their rankings.

In the FIFA rankings for September announced by FIFA on Wednesday, Korea under Hong Myung-bo remained unchanged. During the A-match period in this month, Korea had one win and one draw in the first and second rounds of the third Asian qualifying round for the 2026 North-China World Cup. It ended up with a 0-0 draw with Palestine in the first match at home on Saturday, but won 3-1 with Oman in the second match on Sunday. Korea maintained its third position among AFC member countries.

Japan, which defeated China 7-0 and Bahrain 5-0 in the third round, jumped two notches to 16th, the highest among Asian teams. Iran was ranked 19th, the second highest in Asia. Having grabbed two consecutive wins in the third round, Iran has elevated its ranking by one notch.

Most notable among AFC countries is Qatar`s fall of 10 notches to 44th. Qatar, the 2023 Asian Cup champion, only had one draw and one loss against North Korea (2-2) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the third Asian qualifying round held this month.

China's ranking dropped to 91st place as it lost 0-7 to Japan and 1-2 to Saudi Arabia in two of its third qualifying matches. It dropped four spots, falling to the top 90 for the first time since 2016.

Indonesia, led by head coach Shin Tae-yong, raised its ranking from 133rd to 129th by recording two draws with Saudi Arabia and Australia. 토토사이트
